Lahij is one of the most ancient villages in Azerbaijan, it is also one of the most treasured. Located in the region of Ismayilli, just a 3 hour drive from Baku, this village boasts cobblestone streets and the country’s oldest working sewage system. It’s famous for its iron workers, who make their water jugs and other crafts right in front of your eyes. The inhabitants of Lahij speak their own unique dialect, which has its roots in Persian.
